Liquor Ban Areas

Liquor bans have been applied to two areas in Central Hawke's Bay.

It is prohibited to consume or be in possession of alcohol in public areas in any of the liquor ban areas. Members of the public are still able to transport or carry containers of alcohol through the area (e.g. from a bottle store or supermarket to their car) but are not allowed to drink, hold or store liquor in any liquor ban area.

The Liquor Control Bylaw is enforced by Police who have authority to search, detain and request details.

The liquor bans have effect at all times (24 hours a day) in the ban areas. However, bans do no not apply to private property within the ban areas at any time. They only apply in a public places.
