Service Cemeteries

New Zealand Veterans’ Affairs has approved Council’s application for the new Service Cemetery built within the new Central Hawke's Bay District Cemetery; this will enable returned servicemen and women and their spouses to be provided with a burial or ashes plot free of charge within the new cemetery.chb cem

New Zealand Veterans’ Affairs also contribute each year towards the up-keep of the Service Cemeteries within our district. At this time the ashes rose gardens and flag pole have been installed, with the Veteran Affairs looking at adding a burial berm within the next twelve months.

CHB now has four Service Cemeteries: Waipukurau Cemetery, Waipawa Cemetery, Takapau Cemetery and Central Hawkes Bay District Cemetery.

The CHB District Cemetery is located on Warwick Road which can be accessed via Cemetery Road (off Tikokino Road) in Waipawa.
