Citizens Advice Bureau

Provide free,confidential, impartial advice and information to anyone in the community that may need help. No problem too big or small. They have trained volunteers who will assist with your enquiry.

Hours are Monday - Friday 9. am - 4pm.

In conjunction with the HB Law Society also provide Free Legal Advice on Saturday morning's from 9.30 - 10.30 am except when it is a public holiday. No appointment necessary just first come first served.

Central Connect Whare Manaaki

Central Connect Whare Manaaki provides post crisis counselling, Primary Health Organisation funded counselling, home based social work support, and family violence intervention, and Strengthening Families work. Our staff are fully qualified and members of their professional bodies, and our services are free for clients who meet our contract criteria.

Heartland Service Centre

The Heartland Service Centre is a government initiative designed to improve access to Government Services for rural and provincial New Zealand.  There are two parts to Heartland Services:

  1. Service Delivery Centres through which Government Services can be provided when departmental representatives are available
  2. An outreach service in which several different Government Agencies will synchronise visits to remote communities in order to provide a face to face service.

Information Centre

The railway station, built in 1860 and recently restored, accommodates the Information Centre. Visitors will be assisted by the friendly staff and experience the rumble of daily freight trains as they pass through the Station. Additional services include national travel advice and accommodation bookings, as well as a selection of souvenirs and local art.

Victim Support helps people to be in control of getting their lives back on track and ensures they get the services they need and their rights upheld. Our free service provides emotional and practical support, information, referral to other support services and advocacy for the rights of victims.
