Pure Sports turned one on the 22nd November. Under the ownership of Judy and Jared Hartstone for a whole year. Our local sports shop has come a long way in 12 short months. Judy has worked in partnership with Central Hawke’s Bay District Council to help grow her business – this growth in part has been due to the guidance from Business Mentor David Trim. David, has worked in collaboration with Jobs in CHB to create a wraparound business support package that can be available for business owners that may require some help, give an outside perspective and personalised approach to assist them in their business. This programme is designed to provide one to one business mentoring that may have some Group Coaching extensions after the initial coaching. "I am really grateful to have had the opportunity to work with David, he has been a real asset with guiding our business.”
Judy also connected with Jobs in CHB to assist with staffing as she wanted to employ locals. School leaver Olivia Johnson had a keen interest in sports butwasn’t 100% on what her next move would be. Jobs in CHB connected Olivia with Pure Sports and began a work placement under the TeMahuri incentive. This allows employers to take on staff at a temporary reduced cost, allowing them to invest time in training them up to be valuable employees. Olivia has just completed 6 months with Pure Sports and has secured permanent work there. “Olivia has turned out to completely exceed our expectations, she has come so far and is a valuable member of our team.”
Mayor Alex Walker recently visited Olivia and the team at Pure Sports to talk to them about the placement and said it was “great to see the support Pure Sports were able to give Olivia.”
“It's Always a pleasure, at Pure Sports and Leisure!!”
