Recycling Crates

Website tiles 12If your house receives kerbside recycling collection as part of your rates, your property has been allocated three crates.

  • Red crate: Glass items only.
  • Teal crate: Paper and small volumes of cardboard. Please collapse down as much as possible. Larger cardboard boxes and cardboard volumes can be taken to recycling drop-off centres at any time and disposed of for free.
  • Black/Blue crate: Plastic bottles and plastics 1, 2 and 5, and cans.

Check the bottom of your plastics to find the number. Wash, squash and take lids and tops off plastics and glass for disposing of in general waste. You can check our Recycling made easy! guide if you are unsure.

The recycling crates must remain with your property when you move. If you require a crate, please phone us on 06 857 8060, or pop in and see us at our Waipawa office or Waipawa Library.

Wheelie Bins

We have paused the implementation of wheelie bins for kerbside refuse collection while we assess priorities in light of Cyclone Gabrielle's effects. We are also waiting for Central Government to provide clarification on future waste-related policies.
