Parking in Town Centres

Parking regulations aim to ensure cars are parked safely and considerately, as well as making sure everyone has a fair chance of getting a car park in the main town centres.

Recent population growth in our district has brought an increase in demand for parking in our townships. We currently have time limited parking in Waipukurau and Waipawa town centres, which is proactively monitored by our friendly compliance team to ensure everyone has access to parking when they need it. We want to make it easy for everyone to visit our town centres and support our local businesses.

Parking regulations

Time limit parking in the town centres range from 5 minutes to 60 minutes in Waipukurau, and from 5 minutes to 15 minutes in Waipawa. If you park for longer than the indicated parking time, you may receive a parking infringement notice, or parking ticket. Click here to read more about parking tickets, including methods of payment and the process for disputing parking tickets.

Parking in a disability park without a permit is also an offence and non-permit holders will receive a parking infringement notice.

We respond to complaints about abandoned vehicles, illegally parked vehicles and safety issues related to parked vehicles (e.g. vehicles parked over driveways or fire hydrants). We are not authorised to deal with issues on private property or in private car parks, such as supermarkets. If you have a valid parking complaint, please report the incidence to us by completing this online form or calling us anytime on 06 857 8060.
