There are four service cemeteries in Central Hawke's Bay, where certain service members and their spouse or partner can be buried.
We have four service cemeteries in Central Hawke's Bay, where returned servicemen and women and their spouses or partners can be buried or ashes kept free of charge.
New Zealand Veterans’ Affairs approves applications to set aside areas to honour and remember returned service officers in council cemeteries, and also contributes towards their maintenance.
Central Hawke's Bay District Cemetery on Warwick Road in Waipawa (accessed via Cemetery Road) is the latest service cemetery to be established in the district, with an ashes rose garden, flagpole and burial berm. It joins other service cemeteries Waipukurau Cemetery, Waipawa Cemetery and Takapau Cemetery.
