Pukeora Forest of MemoriesMāra Ngahere Whakamaumaharatanga

Located on Pukeora hillside, on the old main road branching off Pukeora Scenic Road, this arboretum was established in 1993 by the Waipukurau Rotary Club.

Forest of Memory Arboretum

Established in 1993, the Pukeora Forest of Memories encompasses ten hectares of north-facing hillside at the base of Pukeora Scenic Road in Waipukurau. The Hawke's Bay Health Board sold the land to Waipukurau Rotary Club after the idea of the memorial arboretum was initiated by Andy Watts.

The first trees were planted in winter of 1993 by a group of local tree enthusiasts and continues to be developed with planting and walking paths more than 30 years later, creating a special place for our district community to visit and remember.

A stone walled entranceway welcomes visitors to the arboretum, and its large visitor car park area, walking tracks, memorial seating throughout and wonderful views overlooking the Tukituki River and Waipukurau make the park a peaceful and restful place to visit.

For a small donation, memorial plaques can be placed and tress planted in the forest in memory of lost loved ones. Contact Andy Watts on 021 858 927 to find out more, or email forestofmemoriespukeora@gmail.com
