Dog RegistrationRēhitatanga Kurī

Under the Dog Control Act 1996, all dogs over the age of three months must be registered.

Under the Dog Control Act 1996, councils are responsible for the control of dogs and renewing your dog's registration each year is mandatory.

All dogs over the age of three months must be registered. The Animal Services team send out annual dog registration notices in June each year, and registration fees must be paid by 1 August. After 1 August, a penalty of up to 50 percent of the registration fee per dog will be imposed. Non-registration will result in an infringement being issued to owners.
