Waipawa Spring Festival – affectionately known as Duck Day – is not only a festival with stalls, food and entertainment but also the day when more than 1,500 little plastic ducks race down the Waipawa River.

The festival is held in Nelly Jull Park in Waipawa, with the duck race held on the Waipawa River.

Duck tickets are on sale from local retailers from September.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and last place, as well as many spot prizes.

This is set to be another fantastic festival full of fun family activities. 


Waipawa Spring Festival is a part of Central Hawke's Bay Spring Fling. The Spring Fling is a series of standout events through September and October, capturing the essence of springtime in Central Hawke's Bay!

Spring is a stunning time of year in Central Hawke's Bay and the Spring Fling is a wonderful showcase of the region.

Spring Fling events span from Otane to Takapau, Tikokino to Porangahau, and offer plenty of variety for visitors to experience the very best Central Hawke's Bay in spring.

However, you choose to enjoy the Spring Fling, we look forward to hosting you in this beautiful part of Hawke's Bay, with warm Central Hawke's Bay hospitality.
