The pavement condition along Porangahau and Wimbledon Roads varies and has undergone large numbers of historic pavement treatments (dig out the failed pavement surface and reinstate with better gravels and reseal the surface).
Pavement treatment requirements to increase the pavement strength to carry HPMV loadings on Porangahau Road and Wimbledon Road have not been defined, however some Area Wide Pavement Treatments are proposed in localised areas.
A drive over visual assessment has been carried out in conjunction with a review of previous pavement treatments to determine priority areas where new treatment should be implemented. Three sections were identified as the highest risk to failure in the short term, two of these are currently being competed onsite. The third section (on Wimbledon Road) is not yet programmed but likely to be completed during 2021.
