This part of the project will see the capacity of the existing Waipawa borefield increased from 55 L/s to 155 L/s which will include one, possibly two new bores to be added at the borefield. As a start, an investigation bore was drilled to determine the available quantity of water which was a successful exercise.
The water will need to meet legislative requirements for new Drinking Water Standards that came into effect on 14 November 2022.
Resource consent will be required for the drilling of the production bore(s) and for the extraction of groundwater and this is currently being processed.
The size of the water treatment plant will also be increased so it can treat the increased water take.
Combined, this work will ensure sufficient water to meet the full demand of Waipukurau and Waipawa.
