Young entrepreneur Josh, the new owner of The Goat Horn Café, has connected with Jobs in Central Hawke’s Bay, to find the perfect addition to his team. Through their efforts, Jade, a recent arrival to the area, has found employment at The Goat Horn.
Josh, a 22 year old hospitality professional, had long dreamed of owning his own café. He began working at Nola’s Café through Napier Boy's HIghschool Gateway programme and has been a familiar face at this popular spot for the past 6 years. During this time Josh was nominated for Rotary Young Employee of the year twice, winning highly commended in 2022. When the opportunity arose to purchase The Goat Horn, (formally Nola’s Café), he seized it. Josh soon realized that he needed a dedicated and talented team to help him bring his vision to life and reached out to Jobs in Central Hawke’s Bay to see if they were able to assist. Jade, a skilled barista, had recently relocated to the area with her partner in search of new opportunities. She saw a Jobs in Central Hawke’s Bay post on social media and came to visit the Mobile Employment Hub.
Jade said this is, “Probably the happiest I’ve been in a job. I love having the regulars in, it feels like you actually know them and it’s been a great way to connect to the community.”
Josh has found “it’s been great having someone work without having to tell them what to do - having someone who shows initiative frees you up to focus on other areas of the business.” He has found since the takeover of The Goat Horn the community have been supportive and they have plenty of regulars in each day. Future goals include getting the Café to 7 days a week.
Come in to experience their fantastic service for yourself at 12 High Street, Waipawa. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 9am – 3pm.
The story of Josh and Jade reminds us of the importance of personal connections and the positive outcomes that can arise when individuals and organizations work together. Their journey highlights the potential for success and growth that lies within the power of collaboration and community support.
