INZONE Career Coach visits Central Hawke’s Bay.
On the 4th and 5th November, the Jobs in Central Hawke’s Bay team hosted the INZONE career coach at Te Huinga Wai, the Knowledge and Learning Hub and Central Hawke’s Bay and Te Aute Colleges.
The INZONE career coach is a high-tech interactive touch screen resource that uses career kiosks to enable students to easily watch videos on a wide variety of careers. The kiosks provide inspirational material for all ages with the opportunity to make informed and practical decisions on their career options.
Peter and Donna Doake who run the coach, were very impressed with the enthusiasm and engagement of our youth at both Te Aute College and Central Hawke’s Bay College. A member of the Defence Force Recruitment was also present to answer questions from youth about the different Defence Force opportunities.
Peter said, “What we find is that particularly with young people, what they don’t know – they don’t know! So what we’re trying to do is open their minds to all the opportunities out there.”
It was great to see the staff having a go and the eagerness of the students to get in and look at new careers and be opened up to a wide range of opportunities. Students were able to give their feedback to allow for the coach to remain current and up to date when it comes to career options our youth are interested in. Barbering and Hair and Beauty were industries that were popular.
“The kiosks and approach to career planning really fits the focus of the Te Huinga Wai digital hub and is a valuable inclusion to what they offer. We are so grateful to our sponsors who have allowed this resource to be on hand for our community. Come in and try it out “– Says Deputy Mayor Kelly Annand.
To ensure that career guidance remains available for our Youth in Central Hawke’s Bay we are privileged to have our own World of Work Career Kiosk in Te Huinga Wai, The Knowledge and Learning Hub in Waipukurau. This has been made possible by sponsorship from Jobs in Central Hawke’s Bay, Beca, Low Environmental Impact, Stantec and WSP for the next three years. Any member of the public can access this awesome interactive resource.
Come and check it out during Te Huinga Wai’s opening hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9-1pm.
