We deliver the CONNECT Driver Safety & Licensing program in Central Hawke’s Bay and are a coordinated community response to driver education and licensing.  We do everything from Learners, Restricted and Full licences, we offer education classes to pass the learners licence first time and offer Defensive Driving Courses to ensure our people are safer on the roads.  With driver mentors for those who need people to teach them to drive, professional instruction for those preparing for tests and our own Community Driver Testing Officer when its time to sit the practical test. 

We are also committed to CONNECTing to reduce offending in Tamatea Central Hawke’s Bay and work collaboratively with other partner organisations to ensure that people are given support locally to be free of the justice system or to complete requirements asked of them through court, police, or probation.

CONNECT are also keen Youth and Community Development partners, working alongside other agencies and playing their part at ensuring Community Wellbeing in Tamatea Central Hawke’s Bay is a focus.  Their innovative ability and eagerness to ensure that when a need is identified that they work hard to do what they can do or CONNECT with others to address needs or to give life to fresh community led ideas. 

Age Concern Hawke’s Bay is the lead organisation in Central Hawke’s Bay that connects, supports, empowers, celebrates, and respects all older people in an inclusive community. We are committed to promoting the wellbeing, rights, respect and dignity for older people. With an emphasis on promoting health, independence, and alleviating social isolation, vulnerability, and elder abuse. We have a tradition of being flexible and readily able respond to both the varied and specific needs of our community.

CAB provide free, confidential, impartial advice and information to anyone in the community that may need help. No problem too big or small. Trained volunteers will assist with your enquiries.

Hours are Monday - Friday 9. am - 4pm.

In conjunction with the HB Law Society CAB also provide free legal service at the Hastings Bureau on Saturday mornings from 9.30 - 10.30 am except on public holiday weekends. No appointment necessary, just first come first served.

Central Connect Whare Manaaki provides post crisis counselling, Primary Health Organisation funded counselling, home based social work support, and family violence intervention, and Strengthening Families work. Our staff are fully qualified and members of their professional bodies, and our services are free for clients who meet our contract criteria.

Heartland Services is a government initiative designed to improve access to Government Services for rural and provincial New Zealand.  There are two parts to Heartland Services:

1. Service Delivery Centres through which Government Services can be provided when departmental representatives are available
2. An outreach service in which several different Government Agencies will synchronise visits to remote communities in order to provide a face to face service.

Pregnancy and Parenting Central Hawke’s Bay is a collaborative group of services and organisations that provide support to our pregnancy women, parents/caregivers and whanau of young children in Central Hawke’s Bay.  They are  all based out of the Pregnancy and Parenting Hub at the CHB Health Centre in Cook  Street, Waipukurau

Promotes and provides person-directed opportunities for independence, mobility, and inclusion for disabled people ensuring greater choice and control over their lives.

Facilitate a range of skills and access to the right opportunities giving people the power of personal choice, a sense of identity and the ability to form meaningful connections.

Facilitated support and guidance for:

• Personalise social and community connections
• Transition from school to community
• Employment Services
• Disability Information Advisory Service (DIAS)

Victim Support helps people to be in control of getting their lives back on track and ensures they get the services they need and their rights upheld. Our free service provides emotional and practical support, information, referral to other support services and advocacy for the rights of victims. This support helps victims find strength, hope and safety in the face of grief and trauma at what may be the worst time of their life.

EPIC Ministries Inc is a charitable trust focused on the development of youth in Central Hawke’s Bay.  Our vision is to see a generation of young people empowered to reach their maximum potential – physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually so they can be contributors to a healthy community.

We run a range of events and activities including after school and school holiday programmes and camps and mentoring.  We also coordinate the Central Hawke’s Bay Youth Council.

We advocate, educate and support individuals, organisations and communities to ensure that every young Kiwi (5-21 years old) with a Physical Disability is included in Sport, Physical Education and Recreation opportunities. 

We provide transport to medical and wellbeing appointments locally and to Hastings/Napier.  Porangahau service operates Tuesday and Thursdays – other days by arrangement for medical appointments. Minimum of 24 hours notice required, koha based service.

HealthCare NZ is New Zealand’s largest healthcare, disability and wellbeing support provider and provide services throughout Central Hawke’s Bay.

Neuromuscular condition is a broad umbrella term that describes a variety of muscle disorders, of which there are over sixty covered by MDANZ.  These conditions are rare and mostly genetic.  Progressive muscle wasting leads to loss of mobility and independence, and there are often major impacts on organ systems.   Symptoms can appear at birth or for others not until much later in life.  Neuromuscular conditions are unpredictable and there are limited treatment options.  MDANZ support individuals, families and whanau by providing specialist information, practical resources, personalised support, Fieldworker services and advocacy

Providing rest home and dementia care in Central Hawke’s Bay.

The dedicated and enthusiastic team at Pakeke supports the elderly in our community by fostering companionship, trust and laughter. Our staff and volunteers are passionate about making our clients’ visits as enjoyable as possible, by promoting independence, safety and dignity. Including social activities and entertainment to maintain an active mind and body, encourages social interaction.

A pick up and drop off service available, respite time for families, advocacy services. Clients may be eligible for Te Whatu Ora or WINZ funding.

The Food Basket Central Hawke’s Bay collects and share food for free in CHB to reduce waste and increase food security.
