The Original Mack

Unique and innovative – Fraser Mack has developed a sound of his own that is at once relatable but also unfathomable, leaving his audience wondering “how did he do that?”
Described on Rock Radio UK as New Zealand’s best kept secret and undoubtedly one of the best guitarists in the land, Mack is creative singer-songwriter, whose music is an original blend of blues, rock, folk and funk.
Mack’s setlist draws from his increasing repertoire of original acoustic tunes, both familiar and new including Dreams of Crying, Feather, Knuckles, Lotus Love, The Monster and Me, The Boy from Appalachia, Gone From Me, Red to Fade, Everything I Need, Live to Play, Misty, Hail, Never Want, Green to Grey, Oblivion, Rasta Man, Sully J, Autumn, One Man Band, The Man I Was Raised to Be, Vampire, Old Rock Band. Mack’s setlist also incorporates some contemporary folk and rock, interpreting artists such as Springsteen, ACDC, Red Hot Chillis, Chet Faker, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson and more.
Tonight you will find Mack back at the sweetest little bar in Hastings. Looking forward to sharing a great evening with you. $10 cover at the bar. U18 with an adult.
From 'The Extended Session with Fraser Mack' by Sarah Cates, The Hook, October 2017. His originals have a maturity that belie his youth. The lyrics are written from the heart, sung with passion, and played with supremacy from his acoustic guitar. Mack uses his whole guitar. The neck, the body, the strings.
The entire instrument is exploited. It is his percussion that creates the melody, and makes the performance. It’s guitar gymnastics...
